SOME PHOTOS OF OUR 2002 TRIP TO THE
WANAKA WARBIRDS AIRSHOW AND NEW
ZEALAND TOUR.

Our third trip to the Wanaka Warbirds Airshow was the best one yet.
The tour group was made up of 17 people of all ages, and included
several pilots. Like our previous trips to NZ we spent the mandatory
2 or 3 days at the airshow, but once it finished we hired a couple of 10
seater mini-vans and hit the road. For the next 3 weeks we visited
nearly every major scenic attraction and tourist venue on both the
North and South Islands.

Chair lift ride up Mt Ruapehu - an active
volcano. Not much snow at this time of
the year, but still a lot of fun.

A lunch time BBQ on a South Island
beach. A couple of fossikers in the party
managed to find some nice Greenstone
(jade) pebbles in amongst the shingle.
Two of our party went prepared for a
spot of fishing and amazed everone by
catching several nice trout.
A few of the Rainbow trout that were
caught and grilled on a BBQ for dinner.

The beautifully restored Wildcat was put
through it's paces and delighted the huge
crowd at the airshow.
The Catalina is one of the regular
participants at Warbirds Airshow each
    year.

Sounding like a 100 Harley-Davidsons,
the russian built Polykarpovs were the
noisiest aircraft at the show.

The group sets sail down a misty fjord in
the South Island. One of our group spent
his time on the bottom of the fjord in a
4 man submarine.

The only fully restored Hurricane in the
southern hemisphere is another regular
 at the airshow.

Hiking in one of the South Island national
parks.

The lakeside waterfront at Queenstown.
Members of the group departing on a
thrilling jetboat ride down the lake and
up one of the rivers.

At the end of the tour we were met by
12 ultralights from the local flying club
and members of the group were given
a thrilling cross country flight.

NZ has some amazing mountain drives. Our
mini-vans on the road
into Milford Sound.

"Warbirds over Wanaka" is the largest warbirds airshow in
the southern hemisphere. It is situated on a flat plain nestled
down in amoungst the towering mountains of the
New Zealand Southern Alps.

THE WARBIRDS AIRSHOW IS HELD EVERY 2 YEARS - THE NEXT ONE IS
SCHEDULED FOR EASTER 2008. WE WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY BE
CONDUCTING ANOTHER TOUR TO THIS EVENT, DEPARTING FROM
BRISBANE AUSTRALIA, SO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE
CONTACT US ASAP. WE WORK ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS,
AND LIMIT THE GROUP TO 18 MEMBERS. THE TOUR
IS NON PROFIT MAKING AND CONSEQUENTLY VERY AFFORDABLE.
